honestly, i've been killing a lot of free time lately by working on random tools and non-game projects. i feel kinda guilty for this, because i should be working on my big game projects (like IRIDIUM VERTIGO) but i just haven't had the motivation for it. oh well! i'll get back to it eventually...
here's some stuff i've done in the last week or so:
- worked together with .:/ DiSCATTe \:. and Spoike to build a toolchain for creating POV-Ray scenes in TrenchBroom! i'm super proud of this honestly, i didn't think it would come together as well as it did. github link.
- created my own private QuakeWorld deathmatch server with modified server code and custom maps. if you wanna hang out and go fragging sometime, shoot me an email!
- i've also been working a LOT on Valve Archive. i'm in the process of reworking the entire organizational structure of the thing, as well as adding a bunch of stuff i missed over the last few years. i'm super excited to say more, soon!
- another thing that has pulled a lot of my attention is writing Kaitai Struct definitions for all sorts of obscure and bizarre binary formats from the games i enjoy. did you know that the Quake engine source code has an unfinished predecessor to demo files living in it? neither did i, but now i've documented its structure!
